Reignwood Park International School required a durable waterproofing solution for its complex steel and glass roof. Since the building’s completion, the project owner and maintenance teams had been facing persistent roof leakage issues that conventional waterproofing systems and sealants failed to resolve.
The unique architectural design of the roof, combining steel structures and glass panels with numerous joints and interfaces, created multiple potential weak points where water ingress could occur. Repeated repair attempts using traditional sealants and waterproofing materials proved ineffective, leading to ongoing maintenance challenges and concern for the long-term integrity of the building.
The Challenge
The main challenge of this project was the building’s intricate roof structure. The combination of steel framing and glass elements created numerous joints and interfaces that required precise waterproofing.
Traditional waterproofing systems and sealants were unable to accommodate the structural movement and complex geometry of the roof. As a result, leaks continued to occur, and the maintenance team struggled to find a permanent solution that could effectively seal all roof joints and prevent further water ingress.
A more advanced waterproofing system was required - one capable of adapting to the structure’s movement while providing seamless protection across all critical detailing points.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Triflex and its experienced application partners proposed the Triflex ProDetail system.
Triflex ProDetail is specifically developed for waterproofing intricate details, joints, and interfaces. Triflex ProDetail combines fast-curing liquid applied waterproofing with full-surface fleece reinforcement. It is applied in a cold liquid form, wet-on-wet, and cures extremely rapidly to create a long-lasting and flexible finish.
Its flexibility allows the system to accommodate structural movement while maintaining a watertight seal across complex roof connections and transitions. This makes it particularly suitable for steel and glass roof structures where traditional rigid sealants often fail.
The system was carefully applied across all roof joints and detailing areas, creating a continuous waterproofing layer that ensures long-term protection.
